I love photographing at this time of year. The light is often beautiful, the colours vibrant and there is often a hint of crispness in the air. Over the years more and more couples seem to be choosing to get married away from the peak midsummer period and this is great for me as it allows a much greater variety of conditions in which to create pictures.
Nicky and Jonathan`s venue, Bassmead Manor near St Neots provided a perfect backdrop for a day which was designed around informality and became a lovely reflection of their easy going personalities. As you can see below the barn was decorated absolutely beautifully and the light and warmth inside complemented the wide openness of the barn’s rural setting outside perfectly. I love this type of wedding where it really isn’t all that “weddingy” at all and the day is just a big informal celebration. It can be a real challenge for me in that a lot of the wedding “set pieces” are absent and I have to really rely on my instinct and eye to create a set of images that tell the story of events.
