I visited Childerley Hall a few weeks before Anna and John’s wedding just to have a quick look round as I hadn’t photographed a wedding there before. I am so glad I did as it really is one of the most beautiful wedding locations you could possibly imagine and I was seriously impressed! It is set in a secluded rural location and the grounds have lawns, an orchard, a lake, a chapel, a huge victorian barn – fairly much everything you could ask for in terms of being the perfect wedding venue. The other thing is that Childerley Hall really does have a unique, relaxed and very welcoming atmosphere and, despite the size of it there is a unique sense of seclusion and intimacy.
The day started with photographing the last bits of Anna’s preparations before going on the Old Hurst Church for the ceremony. There was a strong musical theme here as the bride and groom were played out of church by a group of musical friends playing French Horns and Saxophone. Arriving at Childerley Hall there was an afternoon tea on the lawn, again with musical accompaniment by a swing group followed by a drinks reception outside the barn where the wedding breakfast was held.
