“The photographs are absolutely stunning, we are so thrilled with them :)” – Jenna and Alex
I photographed Jenna’s brother’s wedding a couple of years ago and it was great to be asked back to photograph Jenna’s big day as well! I knew it was going to be a fun packed day and that Jenna was happy to just let me “do my thing” – in fact when I asked her if she had any specific ideas for pictures or anything she would particularly like me to do she just said “just do it exactly the same as Dave’s wedding” – so that’s exactly what I did! Nothing was set up or posed apart from some family photographs at Orton Hall and some pictures of Jenna and Alex in the grounds and from the preparations through the ceremony at Orton Longueville church and to the reception itself at Orton hall I photographed away telling the story of the day in as natural a way as possible!
A good example of my “fly on the wall” approach is the picture below. The moment when the bride’s veil is put on is always important and I always think it’s a difficult shot to make feel authentic and meaningful – often it can just be the bride’s head with her hairdresser jamming a veil comb into her hair in a rather awkward position and in a bit of a rush! I was lucky here though in that there was a moment of calm, one of the bridesmaids was doing the honours and Jenna is in a great position with her head slightly down, eyes closed and with her Mum framing her on the left….an Ok picture as it is but i waited and moved a bit until I got the little bridesmaid in shot looking upwards and the other bridesmaid smiling towards Jenna to complete the picture – her Dad balances the composition out a bit on the right as well so a nice family shot all in all as well!
I have included some other favourites of mine below as well – I love the laughing speeches one and there are some other great fun moments as well. We were really lucky that the sunset was rather lovely on the day and I took Jenna and Alex into the grounds for some bride and groom pictures at that point as you can see as well – I love the warm late afternoon/early evening light.
If you are planning a wedding and you don’t really fancy posing for a lot of photographs and you like the natural then get in touch. It would be great to hear from you and have a chat about your wedding!
