Madingley Hall Wedding – Charlene and Jonathan

Charlene and Jonathan got married at Madingley Hall near Cambridge earlier this summer. Madingley Hall is fast becoming one of the most popular venues in the area, I seem to be photographing more and more weddings there, and it’s easy to see why. It’s set in beautiful grounds, and internally has several great spaces that the venue utilises for weddings. Interestingly, from a wedding photographer’s viewpoint, the main stair case is one of the venue’s highlights as the light in that area is absolutely amazing!

Charlene and Jonathan’s wedding was mainly inside as the weather wasn’t too great and luckily Madingley Hall is able to cope with indoor receptions as well. We managed to briefly get outside for some group photographs and some bride and groom shots before the rain started again! The ceremony was in the Saloon, a great room with a lovely full height bay window, and the drinks reception on the indoor balcony inside. I think one of Madingley Hall’s great strengths is that it managed to feel informal and personal despite being an impressive and beautiful location. It has a great atmosphere and this is helped by the very friendly and helpful staff.

Some of my favourite photographs of the day are below, I particularly like the getting ready shots, this is one of my favourite times of the day to photograph and I think always set the scene nicely.
