As a Cambridge based wedding photographer I can hardly imagine a more quintessentially “Cambridge” wedding than Kit and Kate’s a couple of weeks ago. Kate chose to get ready at the University Arms Hotel on Parker`s Piece, the ceremony itself was at the University church of Gt St Mary`s right in the city centre and their reception was held at Sidney Sussex College which is fast becoming my current favourite college in the city! I have photographed several weddings there this year and I just love the architecture, gardens and cloister there for photographing in. It`s also directly opposite Sainsbury`s so it`s great for me to get a quick snack when I take a break during the wedding breakfast as well!
Despite what might seem to be a rather formal setting the day was incredibly fun, (the bridesmaid`s support pants conversation I was party to was hilarious – you know who you are!) energetic and full of laughter.
Some of my favourite shots are below. Moments to look out for include the bridesmaid banana shot (you will understand when you see it!), Kit and Kate leaving the church in tuck tuck pedalled by a long suffering usher, a couple of beautiful hugging shots during the receiving line (look for the reflection in the glass) and some great speech moments too.
