“These are just perfect – exactly how we hoped they’d look!” – Anna and Mark
I love the many varied ways in which people celebrate their weddings and, more and more over the last few years, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of some really individual and very personal wedding days. Anna and Mark’s day was a great example in that they chose two fantastically individual locations – Houghton Mill, and they also gave me the opportunity to indulge in some tipi wedding photography in Mark’s Mum’s field – both of which complimented each other perfectly and really suited Mark and Anna down to the ground!
Their’s was the second tipi wedding I’ve photographed and, if I had the chance, I would love to be a tipi wedding photography specialist! I just love the relaxed almost festival like atmosphere, the smell of the open fire, the twinkling lights, and the wedding tipis themselves just look fantastic – very individual and different!
Mark and Anna also had some very individual country dancing, some wonderful decorations and a very laid back attitude to everything which really made the day go with a swing! Highlights for me included photographing Mark getting ready as well as Anna (groom prep photos seem to be becoming much more popular recently!), photographing inside the wonderful Houghton Mill with it’s old machinary and fantastic light, the dancing which was absolutely top notch and the wonderful early evening light which flooded the tipis and the field for a glorious 20 minutes or so just as the meal finished and everyone was getting ready for the evening celebrations.
If you are planning a cool laid back festival style wedding in a tipi and you like my tipi wedding photography then please
I would love to be there to photograph it for you!
Some of my favourites from Mark and Anna’s wedding are below:
Below: It’s not that often that I get the chance to photograph a groom blow drying his hair!!
Below: as ever I love a good reflection shot. If I can I always look for ways to make a relatively ordinary event a little more interesting.
Below: Meanwhile Anna was at The Old Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon getting ready with her bridesmaids….
Below: I have no idea why this bridesmaid was sitting upside down but it makes an interesting image!
Below: bride with toothbrush packing her case……
……and on to Houghton Mill as the guests arrive and wait………
Below: bun eating during the reception. I spotted these two stuffing them down as fast as possible!
Below: Inside the mill – lots of machinary and some fantastic light in here!
Below: before driving out into the countryside and to a huge field in a tiny village next to Mark’s Mum’s. Tipis all set up and the celebrations begin!
Below: Anna made a (very entertaining) speech – I love Mark looking on in this picture…
Below: …and as the evening drew in the light was fantastic. Anna and Mark went for a wander in the field – a fantastic photo opportunity and none of it contrived or set up……..just as it happened…..
Below: The best bit of a tipi – the open fire – inside!!
Below: If you have a large field why not indulge in some country dancing!?
